Harold Austin Solomon, 77, of Raleigh, NC passed away on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh. Harold was born in Worcester, MA on August 27, 1939 to the late Hilmer and Christine (Franson) Solomon. He is preceded in death by three brothers, Thurston, Bradford, and Philip, and sister, Marjorie Solomon.
Harold is survived by his wife of 55 years, Juliann M. (Sjogren) Solomon; daughter, Lisa M. Solomon of Wake Forest, NC; two sons, Brian S. Salomonsson (Rebecca M.) of Morrison, CO, and Stephen A. (Lindsey A.) Salomonsson of West Simsbury, CT, five grandchildren, a sister, Sandra G. Solomon of Worcester, MA, and three sister-in-law’s, and many nieces and nephews.
He served in the US Army from 1961 until 1964 at the Nike Hercules Missile site in Bristol, RI. He was an Electrical Engineer at Norton Company and later, an Instructor at Worcester Technical Institute where he taught electric power and instrumentation. Harold finished his teaching career at Worcester Vocational Technical High School, where he retired in 2004. He was a member of The Bible Standard Ministries and he loved the Lord!
Harold and his wife, Juliann, moved to Raleigh, NC in 2004 where they enjoyed many years in their retirement. Harold loved to cook, garden and repair antique radios; he was also a ham radio operator. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved to spend time with his family.
There will be a memorial service at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home on E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC at 2:00pm on Saturday, August 26, 2017 with Pastor Leon Snyder conducting the service.
