She is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Bob; mother, Edith Pridgen of Fayetteville; daughters Edie Bell Henninger (Mike) of Raleigh and Jane Bell Myrick (Taiwon) of Durham; sister Angela Pridgen Williams (Johnny) of Clayton; brother David Pridgen (Judi) of Shallotte; granddaughters Micaela and McKenna Henninger. She was preceded in death by her father, William David Pridgen.
Glenda was raised in Sanford. She attended Sanford Central High School and Elon College. Glenda taught English for almost twenty years throughout North Carolina. She was a voracious reader, a daunting Scrabble player, and never passed up a game of dominoes.
Glenda was an active member of her community, Sunrise Assisted Living at North Hills. Her spirit and wit will truly be missed.
Services will be held at Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 1701 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh. The family will receive visitors at 1 pm on Wednesday, February 2, 2011 followed by a memorial service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the American Heart Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
