Donna Kurtz Harris passed away peacefully on July 13, 2021 after a brief illness. Donna was born in Raleigh on March 3, 1935 to the late Georgia Mae Greene Kurtz and Edwin Darlington Kurtz. Donna grew up in Charlotte and graduated from UNC Chapel Hill. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Harris, in 1958. Donna and Larry moved to Raleigh in 1965 when Larry joined the family business, Harris Wholesale.
Donna’s priority throughout life was her family. In addition to family activities, she enjoyed snow skiing in the mountains of Colorado and was an accomplished painter whose favorite subjects were her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Harris; daughter, Edith Harris Upchurch; son, Worth Harris and wife Ann; daughter, Sallie Harris Glover and husband John, all of Raleigh; and five grandchildren – Sallie, Jack & Anderson Glover, and Sarah & Georgia Harris. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Cathy Wochner of Tempe, AZ; brother-in-law, Joe Harris and wife Pam of Durham; cousins, Jane Brown and Alice & Steve Heine of Huntingdon, PA; and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 21 at 11:00 am at White Memorial Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends after the service at the home of Sallie and John Glover.
