Donette was born in Queens, New York to the late Donald George Mulvaney and Valerie P. Mulvaney, née Barrett. Donette worked for the State of North Carolina Division of Child Development and Early Education for over 20 years.
Donnette relocated from New York to North Carolina as a teenager and graduated from Sanderson High School. She continued her education graduating from Lee County Community College with an Associates degree in Paralegal Studies. She later worked for the State of North Carolina as an Administrative Assistant and was looking forward to her retirement.
Donette had an undeniable sense of style and fashion. She was always well put together and would give fashion tips for clothing as well as décor. She was authentic, transparent, and real. Always direct in her speech but not at the expense of others. She gave from her heart and loved the same way.
Donette often bragged that she was the original baby whisperer because children gravitated towards her. There was no child that she could not get to stop crying or to put a smile on their face. Being the youngest of six children, she had plenty of opportunity to practice this art with countless nieces and nephews.
More than anything in life, Donette loved her daughter and grandchildren. They were her heartbeat and breadth of life. She was quoted as recently saying, “I love these children and would give my life for them” A true demonstration of the ultimate Love.
Donette is survived by her daughter Desiree Denson and three grandsons, Brooklyn, Myles, and Jayce. Also surviving is her mother, Valerie Mulvaney; brothers, Ronald, and Peter; sisters, Karen, Marjorie, Sharon, and Janice. Brother-in-law’s K.C. and Leonard. Jeffrey Denson, Nieces, nephews, cousins, and special sister friends Mekada & Kisha, along with numerous other friends
She is preceded in death by brother, Stanley Mulvaney and joined in heaven by Arianna Donae Denson who died with her.
Although her time with us was cut short, her heroic demonstration of love lives on.
The family wishes to acknowledge with deep appreciation the many expressions of love, prayer, kindness, and concern.
