Delores and her late husband Wilbur L. Matthews founded American Drywall Company in 1967 where she worked until just a few years ago. She had a passion for gardening, crocheting, and cooking homemade meals for loved ones.
Delores was born in Duplin County on October 23rd, 1930 to the late James Robert Williams and Rena May Brown.
Delores was an amazing daughter, mother, and grandmother. She lived a great life and is loved and respected by countless people. Delores touched the lives of everyone she came across, and will forever be remembered and missed very fondly.
Mrs. Matthews is survived by her children, Karen Ann Matthews, and her fiance Eddie Benton of Raleigh; Steven Wilbur Matthews, and his wife, Jennifer, of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jennifer Matthews Britton, Eric Keith Matthews, Laurel Hannah Matthews, Megan Julia Matthews; great grandson, Joshua Ezra Britton; brother, Charles Justice Williams of Southport, NC, Zane Grey Williams of Smithfield, NC; sister, Devilla Barnes Williams of Raleigh, NC; and many beloved relatives and friends.
The funeral service was held on November 23, 2021, at 11 am in the Chapel of Mitchell Funeral Home located at 7209 Glenwood Ave. Raleigh, NC, burial followed in Raleigh Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Randall Justice Williams, Gary Lynn Williams, Kermit Alexander Williams, John Edward Beaman, Jr., Jeffrey Adkins, and Randy Bryan.
