David Luther Burchette Jr.

David was born September 6, 1923 in Elkhorn, WV to the late David Luther Burchette, Sr. and Aurelia Patrick Burchette. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army and was employed with Westinghouse Corporation retiring in 1986 . David was a member of Millbrook United Methodist Church. He will always be remembered as a die-hard Duke University, Washington Redskins and Philadelphia Phillies fan.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Roberta O'Dell Burchette; as well as, brother, Clifford, and sisters, Mildred, Delores, Margaret, and Mae.

David is survived by his daughter, Becki Buffaloe and her husband, Merrick of Raleigh; and David Luther Burchette III of Durham; grandchildren, Conni Tucker and husband, Todd of Mount Airy, Mandi Murfin and husband, Tim of Willow Spring, Stewart Buffaloe of New York, NY, Sarah Burchette Holman and husband, Josh of Chatham, IL, Scott Matthews and wife, Lisa of Rotterdam, The Netherlands and Jamie Burchette of Durham. He is also survived by his great-grandchildren, Greyson and Anna Kate Tucker, Josh and Will Murfin, Tyler and Avery Holman, Ashlyn Pendergraft and Ambrey Holloway.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 1712 E. Millbrook Road, Raleigh, NC 27609. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Millbrook United Methodist Church.
