Craig Charles Griffith, Sr., 66, passed away Saturday, November 24, 2018 following a sudden heart attack. Born on August 14, 1952 in Wilmington, Delaware; he was the son of the late Clarence Charles Griffith and Dorothy Louise Smith Griffith.
Craig graduated from Riverside High School in Dearborn Heights, Michigan, received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Central Michigan University, and went onto attain his Master’s Degree in Business from Western Kentucky University. After many years of service with Nortel, Craig retired as the Director of Finance.
Craig “Griff/Papa Griff” loved spending time with his grandkids, Taco Tanner, Brayden Burrito, and Lexi, Princess Tomato. Griff had the unique ability to make friends anywhere, no matter the circumstance. He could charm an entire room with his charisma, and was easily engrossed by a history lesson. Most days you could find him taking care of his neighbors and neighborhood and playing with his beloved dog, Darby, at Baileywick Park. Griff was the ultimate fixit guru, and there was never a project he wasn’t willing and ready to take on. He could make a room smile at his hearty laugh and abundant zest for life. He adored his “Nise” and the family they built together. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Above all, Griff loved his family and the memories they created together. His life and legacy will live on through his loving family.
He is survived by his wife: Denise Dahn Griffith; his children: Craig Griffith, Jr. and wife Leslie, of Seattle, WA and Allison Griffith Nelson and husband Zachary, of Wake Forest, NC; his three grandchildren: Tanner, Brayden and Alexis Nelson; sisters and their families: Colleen Griffith-Regal and husband Richard, of Alexandria, VA and Celeste Griffith Reed and husband Randy, of Tempe, AZ; granddogs: Cooper and Zoe; and by other family and numerous friends.
Private Services were held by the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are preferred to the American Heart Association, ALS Association, or SPCA.
