She was a longtime resident of Raleigh, having graduated from Needham Broughton High School in 1943. Her husband, Robert Peele Kennedy was also a graduate of the same class.
Clarice graduated from St. Mary’s Junior College in 1945 and also attended Meredith College. After World War ll, she and Bob were married in St. Mary’s Chapel and recently celebrated their seventy-fifth wedding anniversary.
She was an active member of Edenton Street United Methodist Church participating in many of its activities for over fifty years. She was an original member of the Hugh Isley Sunday School Class and a longtime member of her beloved circle #2. She was active in United Methodist Women.
Clarice was a charter member of the Samuel Johnston Chapter of the DAR having served as Vice-Regent. She was also a member of the Carolina Charter Chapter of the Daughters of the American Colonists.
She loved all of the arts, especially music and poetry. She spent many happy times with Bob on their sailboat “Wind’s Way” keeping a log of their many sailing adventures.
She is survived by her husband Bob, her daughter Barbara Uldene (Bonnie) Hathway and husband Eddie, two sons, Robert Peele Kennedy, Jr. and wife Susan, and Dr. Scott Woolard Kennedy and twin grandchildren Hurley and Jackson. She was predeceased by her brother Stancil Atwood Woolard, Jr.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Historic Oakwood Cemetery.
