Charles Edmond Mitchell, 68, of Raleigh died on November 3, 2018. He was born in Shreveport, Louisiana to his parents, Ruby Geraldine Hines Mitchell and Edmond Paul Mitchell, both deceased. He is also preceded in death by his sister, Donna Pearl Mitchell.
Charles proudly served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He went on to work a long career in the construction industry, most recently as a general contractor. Charles loved lake sports, camping, fishing and hunting, and most of all, spending time with his grandchildren. Charles was a family man and had a great love for his children and grandchildren. Being a native of Louisiana, he also loved to cheer on the New Orleans Saints.
Charles is survived by his wife, Sharon Mitchell; son, Shawn Paul Mitchell of Haughton, LA; daughter, Shannon Annette Mitchell of Raleigh; grandchildren, Jacob Paul Mitchell, Jazmine Roshay LaCure, Jadaisha Pharis LaCure and Jameree Devonne Moore; and brother, Larry Paul Mitchell and wife Nancy Mitchell of Austin, AR; and several nieces and cousins.
The family would like to acknowledge and thank the dedicated and compassionate nurses at the Duke Cancer Center.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 6:00-8:00pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Ave., Raleigh. A funeral will be held Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 1:00pm, also at Mitchell Funeral Home, followed by burial at Raleigh Memorial Park.
