Billie Nell Wade, age 90, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 23, 2013. Billie was born on February 27, 1923, in Marlow, Oklahoma, beloved daughter of Willie Brown Thompson and Johnnie Sarah Briscoe Thompson.
Billie attended Marlow High School, in Oklahoma. She met the love of her love, Robert Harden Wade, by accident. It was while she was walking down the road to return a dress, that a group of friends drove by and offered her a ride. It was shortly after she got into the car that they had some car problems. As fate would have it the friends went to get some help, leaving Billie and Robert together. It was truly “love at first sight” and within hours they had decided to get married. They were married a few short weeks later and lived throughout the world during Robert’s Army career before settling in Dallas TX in 1965.
Billie’s passion was her family. She enjoyed the many family excursions and vacations to Disney World, and returning to Hawaii, where they once lived. The flowers in her garden were beautiful and she loved making sure her family was well taken care of. Billie took great pride in her appearance and the way she dress and looked. She always had the most up to date fashions and always could be seen wearing the appropriate “bling”. Billie had a great sense of humor and enjoyed the occasional mai-tai, but it was her family and close friends that brought her the most joy and fulfillment. She will be greatly missed.
Billie is predeceased by her loving husband of 69 years, Robert Harden Wade, her parents, and her sister, Maudena Jones. She is lovingly remembered by her two daughters, Sandra Osko and her husband, Greg of Wheaton, IL and by Pandra Dickson Richie and her husband, Donald of Centreville, VA. She will be always known as “Mo Mo” to her beloved grandchildren, Sarah and John McBride, Michael Trybalski, John Brandon Dickson and wife, Mary and Remington Dickson; as well as her great-grandchildren, Caitlyn and Sean McBride, and Scarlet Dickson; and her nephews, Ronald Jones and Rev. Bruce Wade and her niece, Toni Barnes and husband, Mike.
The family will receive friends and family, on Wednesday, March 27, from 2:00-4:00 pm at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh NC. The funeral service will take place at the Chapel at Arlington National Cemetery, at a later date; where she will be buried beside her husband, Robert.
Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations can be in remembrance to Robert, to the Alzheimer Society, in Billie’s honor.
