Beverly Johnston died peacefully on January 30, 2018 surrounded by her children. She was born September 14, 1931 in Homestead County, PA. She graduated University of Pittsburgh, was the Sweetheart of Sigma Chi, and then married a week after graduation. Beverly had four children and the family settled in Allendale, NJ where they were her full-time job. She designed jewelry on the side when she wasn’t busy her kids. After the marriage ended, Beverly began a new “career” in Basking Ridge, NJ as a representative of Homes Magazine. She was very successful in that endeavor, and eventually retired to Bluffton, SC where she built her home of which she was quite proud. Recently she had moved to Raleigh to be near family.
Her true passion throughout her life was singing. Beverly sang in the church choir in NJ and organized a choral music festival. She then led her group of altos in the Sweet Adelines in New Jersey as well as performing in her a cappella quartet Synergy. She continued in South Carolina with the Sun City Chorus and formed an a cappella quartet called the Suntones. Beverly had perfect pitch. She enjoyed a good gin martini. She had a wonderful laugh that many will remember her for.
