He was a wonderfully dedicated father to Michael Thomas Allen and Meredith Mackenzie Allen whom he loved with all his heart. He was an avid UNC basketball and football fan. As a young man, Tommy was active in Raleigh Downtown Lions Club having held several Offices including President of the club. Tommy thought the greatest place on earth was the beach and spent many hours reading and rocking on the porch of his home at Pine Knoll Shores.
Tommy was the perfect Southern gentleman, quiet and reserved. He had many health issues throughout his life. From the age of ten, he endured the debilitating illness of Crohn’s Disease with dignity and grace. As a young man, Tommy never let it define him or keep him from enjoying golf, tennis, neighborhood pickup games of basketball and trips to the beach. He was a kind, loving and generous man.
