Raleigh - Arthur Donald Richards, 85, went to be with his Lord and Savior on November 10, 2011. What a joyous reunion there must have been when he was reunited with his wife, Jane, in heaven. He was born in Jamaica, New York on October 11, 1926 to George Arthur Richards and Helen Anrig Richards.
After serving in the US Navy, Art had a long career working in electronics for several companies including RCA, Sperry, and Heath. He was an active member of New Hyde Park Baptist Church for many years. After retiring to Raleigh, he continued his active church work as a member of North Ridge Church. In 2009 Art moved to Springmoor, where he sang with the Hot Shots and was a Shaky Bells ringer. Art will be remembered as an avid golfer who also enjoyed woodworking, playing guitar, gardening, puzzles, and computers.
Art Richards is survived by his daughter, Judy R. Cook and husband, Doug of Raleigh; sons, David L. Richards and wife, Linda of Boca Raton, FL; and Donald A. Richards and wife, Jane of Raleigh; 8 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 2pm Wednesday, November 16 at Springmoor Retirement Center in the Auditorium. Burial will follow at Raleigh Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends from 7-9pm Tuesday, November 15 at Mitchell Funeral Home, 7209 Glenwood Avenue.
