Alice Marie Porter Bruce

She graduated from High School in June, 1940 and spent 2 years in Nurses Training at the Denver General Hospital. She married her high school sweetheart, Geary A. Bruce, on May 25, 1943 in Long Beach, CA at the Episcopalian Church.

While in high school she was an active member of the Mormon Church. Alice was very active in the military life and was a stay at home mom prior to working as an office nurse in several doctor’s offices and as a secretary at the University of Denver. She was also an avid bridge player.

She is survived by her husband, Geary A. Bruce of Raleigh, NC; their three children, Patricia Marie Chernow of Phoenix, AZ; Geary A. Bruce, II of Manassas, VA and Marcia Anne Modica of Raleigh, NC; six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Mausoleum Chapel at Raleigh Memorial Park, 7501 Glenwood Ave, Raleigh. Burial will follow in Raleigh Memorial Park. Viewing will take place immediately prior to the service at the Mausoleum Chapel from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. A reception will be hosted at the Glenwood North Clubhouse, 5920 Cameo Glass Way, Raleigh, following the committal at the graveside.
