Born January 21st, 1949, he came into this world singing and laughing. No one since has ever been able to perform quite like him.
He is preceded in death by his twin daughters, Anna Michelle Walters and Allison Frankie Walters, his grandparents who raised him, Frank and Effie Walters, his father, Carlton Walters, and his best friend since High School, John Aguirre.
Frankie is survived by the love of his life, since the day he first met her in August 1968, Carolyn. On their wedding day, June 6th, 1969, he sang “Unchained Melody” to her and for the rest of his life, singing to “his Carolyn” was one of his greatest joys.
In 1983, their daughter, Natalie was born, a personality as big as Frankie’s. She, her husband, Hunter (Frankie’s “son-in-love”), and their daughter, Taylor (Frankie’s “Heartlight”) also survive him.
Lastly, he is survived by his brother, Billy Carl Walters, and every bandmember that ever took the stage with him since he began his career in 1968 with The Young Ones.
In 1978, Frankie, John Hodges, Jerry Shooter, and Maurice Leggett formed Goldrush. Shortly afterwards, they recorded their first record, Those Golden Days, in Nashville, Tennessee. He and John kept the Goldrush Band going until Frankie left to sing with the angels in heaven.
Carolyn and Natalie shared Frankie with the world. They will privately send off his beautiful voice and soul in a graveside service, held in the Historic Oakwood Cemetery of Raleigh, NC, with the Rev. Christopher Edmonston officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates sharing of all the memories of Frankie.
Brown-Wynne Funeral Home, 300 St. Mary's Street, Raleigh is honored to serve the family.
