RET. SSG Todd Matthew Scott

Todd was born in Chula Vista, CA on June 10, 1973.

He was preceded in death by his dad, Tom Wharton.

He retired from the U.S. Army after 21 years of dedicated service. Todd enjoyed flying his paramotor around Raeford. He loved helping his community, where he was affectionately known as the mayor of Riverbrooke. When he wasn’t helping his community, he was adding to his flock of chickens, guineas, parrots, dogs, cats, his koi fish, and various rescue animals. Todd loved the beach. He often went to Oak Island with his wife, Becky. He wanted to be remembered as a simple guy that was a father, soldier, husband, friend, and family.

He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Scott; children, Kerstyna Scott, of Raeford, NC, Kristopher Scott (Grace), of Toledo, OH, and Casie Hair (Dustin), of Fulton, MO; one grandson, John Vincent Wilson; his mother, Grace Melanie Wharton, of Raeford, NC; his father, Dennis Scott (Sandy), of Greeleyville, SC; brothers, Dennis W. Scott, of Showlow, AZ, Scot Wharton, of Austin, TX, Nathan Scott (Melanie), of Yelm, WA; and one sister, Amanda Wharton (Brent), of Suffolk, VA.

A celebration of life with full military honors will be held in the Salisbury National Cemetery in NC at a later date.
