My childhood would not have been the same without my Tio Raymond. There are so many moments I remember you being able to make me smile but there is one that has always stuck with me. 

Years ago, I remember you telling me a story.  You started to tell this story how you always did- with lots of big movements, excitement and sooo many words, some words you spoke so fast I had no idea what you were saying.  For this story,  you told me about an argument you had with a man downstairs because you showed him my picture, he took it to be funny and you threatened him to give it back to you. I had no idea what picture you were talking about until you took out your wallet and pulled out my crinkled high school graduation photo that I had given out to the family years ago, thinking most would hang it up on the fridge or put it away somewhere out of sight. 

Seeing that you carried this photo for so many years in your wallet and were still so proud to show your niece off and even fight for it, was something that did and will always stick with me. Thank you for always making me feel special. I will miss you, Rest In Peace Tio. ❤️

I wish I would’ve really got to know you. I was too young to understand what had happened. After your surgery nothing was the same. But I was proud to call you my grandfather. If we weren’t in the circumstances we were in I know we would’ve been super close. I’m saddened to write this because you really fought every battle until you couldn’t. But you’re finally free of pain and suffering. Please watch over my mother and my uncles, they need you. Rest In Peace to my grandfather. You’ll be missed.🙏🏻💔

I remember  once when me, Nicholas, and Tiffany  were little  tata was babysitting us. We started miss behaving in her room and dared her to chase us. We told her there was no way she could catch us and she asked us if we were sure about that when the door suddenly shut while Tata was on the other side of the room. For years we thought  Tata had superpowers until tio told us he closed the it. He said he didn't know what was going on but thought it would be funny to lock us in the room with her. I will always remember his playful side and his laugh which never failed to put a smile on my face.

I miss you Tio Raymond. I remember when I first started driving and you came along for a ride with mom and myself and you were so excited to see me drive. You kept saying " You're a great driver Frank! Wow!" It really meant a lot to see you so proud of me. Love you Tio. You will always be in my thoughts.

Tio Papo was one of a kind , not perfect but had a heart of gold. I have so many memories , too many to jot down . We always argued and cursed each other out on the regular but that how we were with each other , but it was nothing but love between a nephew and uncle . I used to play so many pranks on him , like the time I burned his eyes brows off cause I used the raise the flame on the lighters or every morning before school , he would be getting his clothes out of the closet and I would push him into the closet and close the door ! He never got mad he would just curse me out  lol .. I love you Tio and I will miss you Bendición .. 

Wow this hard for me to say but am his first sister Eve,like he call me ,wow bro we have so many memories ,but the one that sticks with me is that at the age of 15 you started to go to downtown manhattan to shine shoes I remember you got a box somewhere  and I said Papo what's that box and you said is to go and shine shoes so we can get candy for Milton and Loyda I said hey what us me and Cuqui he oh yeah yeah but thier little I said ok ,well mom told him you need to be back before dark or you dont go no more he said ok but if am making money mom then I might be late then dad said no you come before dark ok he said ,well my bro so caring thinking always about his family that young well yes he did andcyes he brought back candy for the two Loyda and Milton omg ,and he got mom a little plant fake but mom treasure it cause he pay for it ,he tells mom dont need water so it wont die mom said ok ,he felt so big cause he made 25 dollars shining shoes only weekends but he did ,another time that I laugh was dad send my other brother James to get the newspaper it was 15 cents omg I cannot cry cause this one really makes you laugh ,so James took so long that dad said Papo go see wheres your brother he went he saw him standing it was so cold and snowy alot Paop said hey bro what happen dad is waiting James said am looking for Rocky ,Rocky was a friend of dad and he was so tall Pao said for what he said dad said get actall man to buy it but he had lost 5 cents in the snow and he coukd nit buy the paper well here's come bro said omg ok got the paper and ccx said to James you dont listen James look at him when they got upstairs and said oh you  had money the look he wanted to hit Papo ,but Paop always made jokes of things that happen  he was a brother that as growing up was the best memories that I will treasure for ever thank you RAY(Papo)made you RIP love you always yoyr sis Eve

As kids the 23th precinct would hand out toys to all the kids in the neighborhood during Christmas time. Papo would be the first one up, he would wake us up saying “hurry up, get dress” cause he wanted us to be first on line.  No matter how much we rush there was always a line when we got there cause of the kids who lived next to the precinct. I remember one time it was snowing and cold,  when it was my turn I got inside a policeman handed me a doll. She was pretty had a short blue dress with lace but I felt sad. Papo saw me and said “Cuqui what’s  wrong” I said “I can’t take her home it’s cold outside and she doesn’t have a coat”.  Papo opened his coat and wrapped it around the doll, he couldn’t close the buttons but he held her tight took my hand and said, “I’ll keep her warm, let’s go home”.  Wonder if he’s the one who started the saying, may all your Christmases be warm and bright. ❤️

My father Raymond Colon  had the biggest heart. I remember being so happy when he came home from work with my uncle Tio Israel and I’d wrap myself around his leg as he struggled to walk with me clinging to it. He’d give me a dollar and I’d buy ice cream from Mr. softee.  My mom would discipline me and say “ wait till your dad gets home!”  She would tell him what I did , he would talk to me and as soon as my mom wasn’t looking he’d give me a kiss and a lollipop, and say “ don’t tell your mom”.  I miss being loved that way. Love you papi rest in eternal peace. ❤️

My brother Raymond was someone who loved to give , I remember him buying me and my brother Milton the youngest of seven our first Halloween costumes he shined shoes all day to have enough money to purchase those costumes.  We were so excited and the look on his face when he saw us dress in them. Every week when I went to see him at the nursing home I’ll  always remember the look on his face when he saw me, It would always take me back to my childhood . Words cannot express my love for you.   Rest In Peace my angel 

I still and will always remember the first time I saw you. You came home in your uniform and I was told to answer the door. When I opened the door, there you were. The first man I loved in a uniform will always be you.

 He always made things fun. Now he’s with Tio James, Padrino and Daddy playing dominoes. I’m sure they are all smiling and joking. He was loved and will always be remembered. I love you Tio.
