Martin J. Cashin

Martin J. Cashin was born January 26, 1945, in Flushing, New York to Lester M. and Gertrude A. Cashin. He was preceded in death by his father Lester, mother Gertrude and beloved wife, Donna (Scaglione) Cashin. He is survived by his son Martin A. and his wife Amanda, daughter Julie and her husband Peter Yeung as well as his grandchildren Grace and Martin Samuel Cashin and Ellie and Eden Yeung. His sisters Sr. Mary Jane Cashin DW, Dolores Vitullo and Margaret Cashin. He also leaves many nieces and nephews who he loved spending time with.

Marty served in the US Army from 1964 to 1966. He joined the New York State Police in 1968 rising through the ranks to Senior Investigator. He retired in 1994 after 26 years. He then worked at CNA Insurance Companies in their Special Investigation Unit. He enjoyed family trips to the New Jersey shore, tennis at the Field Club, hunting with his buddies, coaching his kids’ sports, teaching family and friends to ski, and organizing family reunions. In his retirement, his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren.

A visitation for Martin will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at R. Stutzmann & Son, 224 39 Jamaica Ave, Queens Village, NY 11428. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, June 8, 2023 at 9:45 AM at St. Gregory the Great Church, 242-20 88th Avenue, Bellerose, NY 11426. Cremation is private.
