After graduating from Lincoln High School in 1946, Marian worked as a teller at Puget Sound National Bank and later worked in the bank’s Proof Department. In the summer of 1950, she met the love of her life, Richard Tillotson, whom she married in 1951. While Richard was serving in the U.S. Army, the couple lived in South Carolina and Utah before returning to Tacoma.
Marian enjoyed skiing in the 1940s and later became an excellent bowler in the 1950s while working at Puget Sound National Bank. Marian loved movies, especially westerns and musicals. She always thought of her family before herself, and worked hard on the job to ensure her family could live a good life. Marian’s baking skills were excellent, a skill she picked up from her Norwegian grandmother.
Preceded in death by her son Michael Tillotson, Marian is survived by her husband Richard Tillotson of Puyallup, her daughter Sandy Tillotson of Puyallup, her son Steve Tillotson of Federal Way, her daughter in law Kim Scarlett of Puyallup, and her daughter in law Rosie of Federal Way.
A celebration of Marian’s life will be held at Powers Funeral Home, 320 W. Pioneer Avenue in Puyallup, WA at 3pm on August 11, 2017. Please send Donations in lieu of flowers to the Humane Society of Tacoma and Pierce County, 2608 Center Street, Tacoma, WA 98409.
