Roger Lee Williams, 80, of Arcadia, FL passed away suddenly at home on Saturday, July 20, 2024. Born on October 9, 1943, in Wisconsin, he was raised on the farm of his parents, Florence and Lloyd Williams, and recently celebrated his 25th wedding anniversary with his wife, Judith Leslie Williams.
Roger is survived by his loving wife, Judith, two sons, Leland (Stefanie) Williams and Brent Williams, and two brothers, Thomas (Marlys) and Loren (Katherine) Williams. He is also survived by four stepchildren, Sam (Ann) Stanchak, Jason Stanchak, Jonathan Stanchak, and Maura (Kenny Strelchun) Stanchak, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren, as well as many dear friends, former colleagues, former spouse (Margaret), and shooting buddies throughout the country.
Roger was a graduate of East Troy High School, the University of Missouri - Rolla (Metallurgical Engineering), and Robert Morris University (Masters in Business Administration). He was the Technical Engineer at Zinc Corporation of America in Monaca, Pennsylvania for many years, and then continued his career in plant management in Texas, Tennessee, and West Virginia. Upon retirement, he continued to serve his community by becoming a founding member of the Ruffed Grouse Society Of North Central West Virginia, serving as Executive Director of the Economic Development for Doddridge County, WV, and actively volunteering in various local organizations including the Lions Club.
Throughout Roger's life, had a passion for U.S. history, U.S. military armaments, and youth development. He collected and restored early U.S. Military armaments and shared their stories with anyone who would listen! He also loved participating in gun shows where he would continue to learn and share knowledge with others. As an active member of the National Rifle Association, Roger was a strong advocate for safe gun ownership and marksmanship. He shared those skills widely, and was especially devoted to teaching safe gun handling to youth and shooting sporting clays at any opportunity. Roger also volunteered with the Boy Scouts of America to assist in their Eagle Scout and Canoe Trails training programs. He loved helping people learn survival skills and explore the outdoors of Canada. Finally, Roger loved a game of cards, and most recently treasured time playing euchre with dear friends Marissa and Mia Weaver. His wisdom, generous spirit, attention to detail, and desire to win any/every competition or card game will be deeply missed!
