Melvin Moore was born July 11, 1941 in Perry, Florida. He was the second child born to Freddie Lee Moore and Oneida. He began his early years of education in Perry, Florida. He left with his parents and went to Punta Gorda, Florida where he attended Baker Academy School. He later became a student at Dunbar High School in Ft. Myers, Florida. There he became very active in high school football and was good in his talent. He also had a love for boxing. After leaving high school he joined the United States Army, where he served his country and came out with honors. After his tenure in the military he moved to Inkster, Michigan where he met and later married Juanita. They reared two sons, Keith and Kendall Moore, whom he loved and adored very much. He worked for many years in the tiles layers Union in the state of Michigan. Melvin later returned back to Punta Gorda, Florida where he stayed until the Lord called him home. He was loved by so many family and friends. He was loved by so many family and friends. He had a heart of gold, and it showed. He is preceded in death by his mother Oneida, brothers: James and Henry Moore and his niece Angela Harris, who was so special to him. He leaves to mourn a devoted family. Sister Antoinette (Thomas) Harris, youngest brother Steve (Lena) Jones, two sons Keith and Kendall Moore. A special friend Geraldine Evans and Ty Ty, brother in law (Tony), and a host of nieces and nephews.

A visitation for Melvin will be held Friday, December 16, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services, 2405 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. A funeral service will occur Saturday, December 17, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Kays-Ponger & Uselton Funeral Homes & Cremation Services.
