Manuel Torres age 37 died March 20, 2024, as a result of injuries sustained by gunshot wounds. Manuel was born March 31, 1986, in Camden, New Jersey, the son of Angel Manuel Torres and Aristides Marrero.
Macho and his family moved to North Carolina for a short time and then Florida in 1992 where he attended North Ft. Myers H.S. Inspired by his love of cutting hair, he opened a barbershop under the name of Good Fellas in Port Charlotte. He later collaborated with his Uncle Edward Marrero and cousin Peter Marrero and opened a barbershop in North Ft. Myers under the name Upper Cutz.
He subsequently decided to move back to Port Charlotte and using the established name Upper Cutz, opened a new barbershop. Seeking a better location to serve the community he moved to Bell Plaza where he had currently operated the successful barbershop Upper Cutz.
On December 1, 2007, he married the love of his life, Keñia Tejada. Their marriage produced two sons, Moises Torres, and Elias Torres. He was a dedicated husband and father.
Manuel was well known to the community as Macho. The many contributions he made to the Port Charlotte community included gifts during the holiday seasons, donations of school supplies and free haircuts to kids at the beginning of each school year. Macho had a great sense of humor and was fun loving; he left his smile wherever he went. Macho will be remembered for his immense demonstration of love towards family, friends and even strangers. Macho was extremely generous, had a beautiful soul and giving heart.
