James, also known as J-Mack, was born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island in 1953 to Joseph and Mary Mieczkowski. James was one of the youngest of nine children. He was preceded in death by his sisters Joan Lombardi and Mary Lynn Booker, and his brothers Richard Courtemanche and William Courtemanche.
James dearly loved his girlfriend, Carol Berard and enjoyed retirement with her in Punta Gorda, Florida.
His three children meant the world to him. James leaves behind Jennifer Hebert, Megan Ruo, and James Mieczkowski. He treasured his time with his grandchildren and loved Amber Coyne, Sean Ruo, and Camden Hebert.
He was passionate about his job at Narragansett Coated Paper, working for the company for over forty years. His greatest memory was fulfilling his dream of becoming a Johnston police officer.
Religion was an important part of his life, as he was an elder and active member of his church.
Everyone who knew James knew his love of playing the guitar and piano, playing golf, and teaching karate. His favorite band was Chicago, and he traveled around the country to see them in concert. He cheered on the New York Yankees and Green Bay Packers.
James will always be remembered for the way he always put his family first. We’ll always imagine hearing him say “I’ll have a rubber band sandwich. And make it snappy!” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better father and will miss James every day. His memory will live in the hearts of all those who loved him.
In honor of his wishes, he will be cremated, and a private celebration of life will be observed by his close friends and family. Donations or flowers in his honor would be greatly appreciated.
