Anne Simpson, age 87 of Punta Gorda, FL passed away peacefully on October 18, 2021. She was born January 12, 1934 in Tuscaloosa, Alabama to Samuel and Ruby Brown. Anne graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and went on to Birmingham Technical College to begin her career as an X-ray Technician. After retiring as an X-ray Technician, Anne helped with the family business, O. Simpson Plastering and Stucco. She was a lifetime member and past president of the Punta Gorda Garden Club where she was a judge and competitor in many flower shows. Anne also was a member of the Florida Southwest State College Keystone Society and was a member and treasurer for 22 years of Eastside Baptist Church. She was also a member of Punta Gorda Baptist Church and currently First United Methodist in Punta Gorda. Because of her love for children, Anne taught Sunday school and Bible school at these churches for many years. She loved gardening, traveling the world, and cooking, especially her famous chicken and dumplings. Anne loved being with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Anne was a very proud member of the Punta Gorda community and volunteered in many areas. She had a very special place in her heart for Crossroads Hope Academy. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband and love of her life of 53 years, Osco Simpson, whom she met in Elementary School; her daughter, Diane Jones; and her sister, Patsy McKnight. Anne is survived by her son, Randy (Toni) Simpson; son-in-law, Frankie Jones; grandchildren, Cally, Osco (Dana), and Jody; great grandchildren, Will, Emmett, and Jacey; sister, Deborah Polosen; and many nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Anne will take place on Saturday, October 30, 2021 at 11 am at First United Methodist Church; 507 W Marion Ave, Punta Gorda, FL 33950. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church or Crossroads Hope Academy.
