Bessie Mae Shelton

She was born on September 14, 1924, a retired teacher, she taught at Minor Hill, Prospect and Elkton Schools. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Alexander and Florence Wilburn Alexander, her husband Joe Shelton, her daughter Judy Shelton, her sister Ruby Owen, and her brother, Ben Thorne.

Visitation will be on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Carr & Erwin Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 8, 2017, at the Liberty United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state at the church from 11:00 a.m. until Funeral time at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Simpson Cemetery.

Survivors include her son, James Shelton and Cheryl of Rogersville, AL, special nephews, Robert and John Owen and their families, honorary grandchildren, Jeff & Jessica Johnston, Brad Johnston & Heather, Rusty Hill, honorary great grandchildren, Adrie, Ryker, Ayla and Cameron Johnston, her loving church families at Liberty United Methodist Church and Prospect United Methodist Church.
