Born in Denver, Colorado, Susan was the daughter of Eldon and Phyllis Bonewell. She graduated from South High School and obtained a Bachelor’s degree from (then) Southern Colorado State College in Pueblo. She worked at Parkview Hospital as a Medical Records Clerk for over 20 years, especially enjoying her time working with new mothers, helping process birth certificates.
Susan enjoyed reading, anything and everything, especially biographies. She listened to all types of music, from musicals to Abba to Olivia Newton-John to the Monkeys, anything that was happy and upbeat. Susan loved everything about the movies: going, watching, reading about hollywood and old-time hollywood classics. Susan loved to travel particularly enjoying Hawaii with her beloved Mark for anniversary trips. Susan was also an avid Avalanche fan who never missed a game; in person was even better!
She is preceded in death by her beloved parents Bonnie (Eldon) and Phyllis Bonewell, as well as her best friend and life partner Mark Massick whom she never stopped loving or missing.
Susan loved family and friends and considered many to be part of her own family. She loved her in-laws, her Aunties, her cousins, her nieces and nephews, as well as friends and friends of friends. She loved staying in contact with old friends and new, by phone and text, and despite her own medical issues she regularly reached out to check on others to see how they were doing and offer support. She persevered through difficult times, and despite the challenges she always tried to keep a positive attitude and stay engaged with others. Susan will truly be missed by many.
The funeral service will be held on October 22, 2024 at 2pm at T.G. McCarthy Funeral home.
In lieu of flowers Susan would be pleased to have a donation in her name to the charity of your choice.
