Russell Clarence Hylton, slipped from the bondage of the Earth into eternal peace and joy6 on the 14th of April, 2021 at the age of 80. He was born the 3rd of February, 1941 in Paonia, Delta County, Colorado to Lynn O. and Blanch (Gump) Hylton. At Paonia High School, he was state champion in wrestling his senior year, and was also the first state champion in any sport of the high school of Paonia. Following graduation in 1959, he entered the service of the US Navy on the 24th of February, 1960 and served until February 1964. He married Carolyn (McCarnish) who survives him, on the 125th of March, 1964 in Pueblo, where they enjoyed 57 years of marriage. In June 1964 he became an apprentice of IBEW, Local #12. In 1968 he became a journeyman wireman (electrician), a job he loved, working with men who became lifelong friends. He retired in February 2003.
He and Carolyn raised two sons who survive him. Timothy (wife Kathy Pltzer) and children Tyler and Amy, and Rodney ( wife Anna Hron) and children Julia and Kate. He is also survived by his eldest sister Melva June Harding of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings; Pet Hylton and Marcella Gillespie of Paonia, Colorado.
He loved hunting, fly fishing, and especially Jeeping and exploring the Colorado Rocky Mountains with his extended family and friends. He and Carolyn traveled extensively from the beginning of their marriage and throughout his life. He was constantly surrounded by the love of his family who will miss him and his dry, witty, sense of humor greatly. Service will be determined at a later date.
