Rosalie Jaquez, a quiet strong matriarch who lived a life defined by independence, resilience, and boundless energy, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on November 20,2024, in Pueblo, Colorado, her lifelong home. At 101 years old, she leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and strength that will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her.
Born on September 4, 1923, to Carlos Sanchez and Josephine Gonzales, Rosalie embodied a pioneering spirit from an early age. She dedicated her career to important work during pivotal times in history, wiring B-17 bomber planes and later developing and retiring from her career as a computer operator at a federal Army depot. These roles reflected her intellect, adaptability, and determination—qualities that remained with her throughout her life.
Rosalie was married to the love of her life and dance partner, Charles Jaquez, for 42 years. Together, they built a family and a legacy rooted in love and partnership. Never losing her independence providing for her family and home Rosalie was an impressive woman.
An active and vibrant soul, Rosalie was playing tennis and bowling well into her 90s. She loved volleyball, dancing, and the joyous rhythms of big band music, which filled her home and her heart. With a wonderful smile that could light up any room, she embraced both the old and the new, cherishing old media to reminisce while embracing modern technology with curiosity and enthusiasm.
Her love for reading, her sharp wit, and her spunky nature made her a joy to be around. Known for her humor and mischievous side, she was always ready to share a laugh—even if it meant cheating at cards to keep things lively.
Rosalie was a proud member of Eagles Aerie 145. She will be remembered as a matriarch whose quiet strength held her family together, a woman who lived fully and loved deeply.
She is survived by her children, Christine Jimenez (Robert), Loretta Jaquez (Anthony Valdez), Charles Jaquez (Jessica), and Regina Jaquez (Robert Allett); her grandchildren, Janine Wright (Jerrad), Shellie Fisher (Wadi Ali), Charla Aucone (Brian), Anthony Valdez (Kristi Eldrige), Chantelle Jaquez (Bryan Valdez), Charlie Jaquez, Evan Downing, Erina Downing, and Kenny Allett-Jaquez; great-grandchildren, Justin Holderness, Nia Wright, Lexie Ali, Amani Ali, Idris Ali, Jakobi Ali, Karamia Valdez, Honey Valdez, Jordan Valdez, Jonas Duffy, Melia Jaquez, and Areaya Allett; 6 great great grandchildren; her brother, Carlos Sanchez; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Rosalie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charles Jaquez; parents, Josephine Gonzales and Carlos Sanchez; grandson, Michael Wade; her wonderful brother Edward; and beautiful, dear sister in-law Frances. As well as in-laws, Joe and Ramona Jaquez.
Her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with loved ones and at peace. Rosalie’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and an adventurous spirit. Her memory will remain a blessing to all who knew her.
Viewing will be held from 5-7 PM on Sunday, December 8, 2024 at Imperial Funeral Home.
Funeral Service will be at 11 AM, Monday, December 9, 2024 at Imperial Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery.
The family requests that any flowers be sent to Imperial Funeral Home, and in her memory spend time with loved ones, dancing to your favorite song, or enjoying a game of cards—fair play not required.
