He was born on March 31, 1932 in Portland, Oregon and lived in Ilwaco,
Washington area through High School. Dick, to his friends, loved his work
and served for over 30-years as a Teacher, Principal and Administrator for
Pueblo School District 60. To him teaching was not work, but a passion and
calling. Dick was active with the Boy Scouts of America while his sons (all
Eagle Scouts) were involved and served at one point as Scout Master for
Troop 19. He was also instrumental in supporting his daughter in obtaining
the highest award for the Girl Scouts. He influenced many lives over the
years as a friend, teacher, mentor and scout master, along with being loved
and respected by everyone that knew him.
After retiring from the School District, he enjoyed traveling and going to
Cheyenne Frontier Days with his wife Eileen (Pinky), along with visiting
their children and grandchildren as often as they could. Dick loved spending
time in the Colorado Mountains camping, fishing, and skiing. The Broncos
and golf were also passions. Additionally, he enjoyed traveling to the State of
Washington as often as he could to visit family and friends.
Dick was preceded in death by Eileen (Pinky), his loving wife of 58-years,
He is survived by his 4 children; Bill (Kay) Meserve, Bob Meserve, Margaret
(Rich) Myers, Rick (Linda) Meserve, and two grandchildren, Darren Myers
and Richard (RJ) Meserve. He is also survived by his Brother-In-Law, Robert
(Sandy) Ferriter, and Sister-In-Law, Dorothy (Ralph) Hinrichs,
along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on November 3, 2016 at T.G. McCarthy
Funeral Home located at 329 Goodnight Ave., Pueblo. The Mass and
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on November 4, 2016 at Holy
Family Catholic Church, 2728 Lakeview Ave., Pueblo.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations be made to
either the Alzheimer's Foundation or Sangre de Cristo Hospice. The family
would also like to thank the staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice,
Brookdale Senior Living Center and Sharmar Village Care Center for their
care and support.
