Richard (Dick) Allen Lane, age 89, of Pueblo, Colorado passed away on Monday, December 9, 2024 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pueblo, Colorado. After graduating from Central High School, he worked for the forest service which he said was a fun job. He then spent two years in the Army and was honorably discharged on February 13, 1957. He married Shirley M. Shellenberger from Vineland in April 1955 and were married 69 years in April 2024. Sadly, Shirley passed away on October 5, 2024, at the family home. Dick retired from the CF&I Steel Mill after 40 plus years. He enjoyed his hobbies of wood working, arrowhead hunting, painting, leather work, yard work, square dancing with Shirley, trips to Cripple Creek with family and friends, helping others and travelling with family and friends. Dick was a member of the Elk's in Pueblo, CO. Dick won a Best of Show ribbon through the Pueblo Art Guild for his oil reproduction painting called "Stump." In honor of his military service, his name is on a granite panel on the Historic Arkansas Riverwalk Veterans Bridge.
Dick had a very long journey with being blind and still enjoyed going out to eat, listening to the Denver Broncos on headphones, creating clues for family coin game during Christmas for many, many years. He always looked forward to his grandson's special time and thought the world of him and embraced his wife, Ariel (Yo Yo). Dick is survived by his daughters, Shelly (Ken) Miller, Tracy (Lloyd) Tilley, and his very special grandson Dustin (Ariel) Tilley. He is also survived by his very special brother, Bob Lane, with whom he shared a very special brotherly bond. He is also survived by his other brother, Jim Lane. In lieu of flowers or food, donations can be made through Sangre De Cristo Hospice who took such good care of him which we, as a family, are grateful for their kindness and compassion. At Dick's request, Cremation, at Imperial Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. Private burial services will be held at a later date with immediate family.
