Michael Wilfred Garcia

Michael W. Garcia, 76, peacefully passed away on May 7, 2024. Born in Las Vegas, New Mexico, Mike was the son of Filemon and Bernice (Aragon) Garcia, and brother of Leroy and Rose. After moving to Pueblo as a child, he attended Central High School where he met his true love, Juanita Vega. They married shortly after graduation and welcomed two sons, Michael and Matt.

Mike and Juanita played softball, bowled, worked together, and built a beautiful family for over 34 years before Juanita passed in 2001. Although mike was devastated losing Juanita, he found great comfort and renewed purpose on becoming a grandfather to Maija and Jennalee. He was the proudest Pompo ever and took every chance to tell his girls they were smart, beautiful, and capable of great things.

Mike spent his career as a central office technician for Qwest. After retirement, he enjoyed a second career running the office of his son’s law practice. He loved golf, earned 7 league championships, and was able to play at his favorite course – Pebble Beach. His favorite memories included trips to Seattle, Las Vegas, Mexico, San Diego, and San Antonio with his boys and family.

Mike is preceded in passing by his parents, his wife Juanita, his brother Leroy Garcia, nephew Guy Garcia, and in-laws Manuel and Marcia Vega.

He is survived by his son Michael L. Garcia, his wife Shawna, and their daughter Jennalee; son Matthew Garcia, his wife Anna, and their daughter Maija. He is further survived by his fur granddaughters, Chloe, Salma, and Molly. Mike is also survived by his loving sister Rose Arellano, and her husband, Anthony; his niece, Angela Garcia and her children, Erika and Eric Flores; nephew, Anthony Garcia; and niece, Michelle Caligaris, her husband Steve and their daughter, Stevie.

Although our hearts are broken, we take comfort that his treatment is done, his body is healed, and he is reunited with Juanita forever.
