Kenneth Eugene Carter

Ken was born in Hutchinson, Kansas, He enjoyed working on the family farm until he joined the Navy. He was so proud of being able to serve our country. Ken was a veteran of World War II as a Seaman 1st Class V6 USNR. He always had so many fascinating stories to tell, and was quite the charmer!

Ken had a very full life, and many careers and accomplishments. He was the director of a television station, chemist at CF&I, commander of Pueblo Search and Rescue, a salesman at Broome Brothers Camera Shop, and that is to name just a few. Upon retiring, he kept himself busy, with his wife, doing ceramics, and selling them at numerous craft shows.

Ken was the happiest though when he and his very special friend, Kathleen, went on their weekly Saturday breakfast jaunt. Off they went to his dear friend’s, Lloyd and Carol’s restaurant, Southwest Deli, for his beloved biscuits and gravy. He lived for that meal! “Best in town!” he always said.

Special thanks to the fifth floor doctors and nurses at Parkview who took such excellent care of him as well as the Sangre de Cristo Hospice Staff who made his final days feel so peaceful.

The graveside service will be held on Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1pm at Imperial Memorial Gardens, Veteran’s Court of Honor.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Sangre de Cristo Hospice.
