Jack K. Egan passed from this life to our Lord in Heaven Sept. 10, 2010, at the VA Nursing Home in Walsenburg, CO. Jack was born July 16, 1925, in Cleveland, OH to John Kilpatrick Egan and Stephania (Glau) Egan, and was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife of over 40 years, Doris A. Egan; his sons and their spouses, Thomas Patrick (Gloria) Egan of Tempe, AZ, and John Michael (Lois) Egan of Decatur, TN; stepson, Bradley W. Strickland, of Dallas, TX; and sister, Lillias (Egan) Pfister of Green Bay, WI; grandchildren, Michael Egan of AZ, Danny Egan of Seattle, WA, Scott Egan of TN, and Katie Rae Egan, DDS, of Alaska; niece, Judy (John) Dexter, of Green Bay, WI; cousin Louise Chapparo, Monument, CO; as well as nieces, nephews, and very dear close friends. Jack is also survived by the family pet, Maggie. When Jack was a baby, the family moved to Colorado and settled in the coal mining town of Valdez, Colorado.He had a happy childhood in Valdez. The family moved a short distance away to Trinidad, Colorado, and Jack attended Holy Trinity Catholic School. When World War II started, he enlisted in the US Navy – Coast Guard, where he remained until the war ended. Jack loved Colorado, the mountains, lakes, and all that is Colorado.
