George was a beloved pastor, teacher, counselor and friend to many. In 1984 he left his growing and successful ministry at Prairie Avenue Baptist Church to assist in founding Sangre de Cristo Hospice. He returned to the pastorate and served at Calvary Church for 9 years. He also served as interim pastor for several churches in Pueblo and loved ministering to those hurting. In addition to his compassion and quick wit, his non-judgmental attitude and ability to be present during life’s storms made him a life preserver to others. He never knew a stranger and it was not unusual for him to invite others to spend time with his family, providing them with a sense of belonging. He had a way of making others feel valued and heard. In a beautiful example of how God works, he was cared for by the staff at Sangre de Cristo Hospice, the same organization he assisted with establishing many years ago. Our family will never forget the source of comfort, dignity and honor provided to him during his final months on Earth. We will forever appreciate the haven you provide to those that are dying.
In lieu of flowers please honor George with a donation to PAWS as he has always loved animals or please donate to Sangre de Cristo Hospice Community Care in his name.
