Donald Ray Ladd, age 78, went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2024 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was the husband of Sharon (Nightingale) Ladd. They shared 61 years of marriage together. Born and raised in Pueblo, Donald was the son of Walter Irvon and Myrtle Ellen Ladd. He graduated from South High School. Donald is survived by his wife Sharon Ladd; sisters Betty Milberger, Dorothy (Jerry) Brasfield, Terri (Willy) Lorenz; daughters Kristine (Pete "Marty") Martinez, Michelle (Lawrence)Medina; granddaughter Jennifer Ladd (whom he raised as his own); grandchildren Cyndi (Mark) Peralta, Andrea, Felicia, Pete, and Isabella Martinez, Chelsea (Khristian Garcia) Wilson, Marina Wilson,and Taylor Ladd; great grandsons Colin Millard, Colton, Cody, and Cameron Clay,Zyier Wilson-Garcia, Alexander and Dante Martinez. Preceded in death by his parents; son Walter Irvon Ladd; and sisters Shirley Chavez and Marilyn Turner. Don worked as an attendant and mechanic for his father at "Lincoln Chevron" while attending high school. Then had his own service station, "29th Street Chevron" for a short time. Donald began his career as a welder in a 3 year apprenticeship program at CF&I Steel Mill, where he remained for 35 years until he retired. During his life Donald's special friends were Louie Blagg, Richard Musso, Dennis Slinkard, Richard Jansen, and Norman (T.M.) Wilson. He was an avid deer hunter. Donald and his buddies hunted the Saguache area every year until he was not able to do so anymore. He loved car racing and spent many afternoons at "Beacon Hill raceway" both in the stands and in the pits. He enjoyed watching Nascar and the broncos. Donald will be sadly missed by family and friends. A memorial service for Donald will be held Friday, November 22, 2024, 11:00am, at Grace Christian Church, 630 Broadway, Pueblo, CO 81004.
