Anna Alfonso

Our beloved mother Anna (Ann) Alfonso passed away peacefully at her home on October 11, 2024 at the age of 103. She was born May 15, 1921 in Morhland, UT to immigrant parents from Prizzi Sicily, Joseph and Rose Cannariato. She was the oldest of 7 children.

Anna was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband of 63 years, Sam, granddaughter Karen Miller, brothers Joseph, Domenic, George Cannariato and baby sister Caroline Cannariato. She is survived by her sisters Rosemary Williams of Price UT and Joan Pellegrino of Sacramento CA. She is also survived by her Children Carolyn (Bob) Miller, Patty (Jim) Ruzicka, and David (Diane) Alfonso. Her grandchildren are Kristen (Ajay) Dhatt, Michael (Crissy) Strubel, Amber (Manny) Marez, Cheryl (Rick) Gonzales, Mark (Kelly) Alfonso, Vince Alfonso and Devin (Jared) Vaughn. She was blessed with 14 great grandchildren, plus numerous nieces and nephews.

Her greatest joy in life was cooking homemade Italian meals for her family and friends. Her ravioli’s spaghetti, Italian cookies, cakes and desserts were the best. She delighted in feeding everyone and no one left her home without a “little something” for later. Playing cards and games with her children and grandchildren was something she looked forward to. She took great pleasure when she would win at casino. Her talent went beyond cooking and baking. She spent many years sewing custom draperies for individuals and businesses. She was devoted to her Catholic faith and to the Blessed Mother. She once commented that “she helps me out a lot”. Her faith was strong and steady and always had her rosary close at hand.

Thank you to Sangre de Cristo Hospice especially, Jean and Crystal, and to the many wonderful caregivers she had throughout the years, most recently Cyndra Shisler, Sophia Bono and Cherrie Contreras, They cared for her with great love and dignity. A visitation for Anna will be held Thursday, October 17, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at T.G. McCarthy Funeral Home, 329 Goodnight Ave., Pueblo, Colorado 81004. A Rosary will occur Friday, October 18, 2024 at 9:30 AM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1145 S Aspen Rd, Pueblo, Colorado 81006. A Funeral Mass will occur Friday, October 18, 2024 at 10:00 AM.

Serving as pallbearers are Mark Alfonso, Vince Alfonso, Michael Strubel, Ajay Dhatt, Justin Dhatt and Rick Gonzales.
