He was the longtime loving companion of Mary-Anne Dunn, with whom he resided. He was the devoted brother of David Miele and his wife, Diann and the late Robert A. Miele. He also leaves his sister-in-law Elaine M. Miele and was the beloved uncle of Elena, Daniel and Jessica Miele and great-uncle of Olivia Miele.
Bill was an accomplished bassist, musician and music teacher who taught many private students and ensembles. He was an orchestra member for various headlining performers and for many Broadway shows performed locally. Bill was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of ’69 and attended the Berklee School of Music from 1977- 1979. Bill taught at the R.I. Philharmonic Music School, Providence College and the Franklin School for the Performing Arts. The bands that Bill played with over the years are too numerous to mention, but he was considered to be one of the premiere jazz bassists in New England. His legacy will live on in his music and in his students. When not playing his beloved bass, Bill enjoyed fine food, aged bourbon and a smoke on his pipe or a good cigar.
His visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 2nd from 10:00-11:00 followed by funeral service at 11:00 in the PONTARELLI-MARINO HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery, Pawtucket.
