The daughter of the late David and Beckie Robbins, she was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. She lived in Queens for many years, until her retirement as a legal secretary in 1995, after which she relocated to Coventry, Rhode Island.
Sonia volunteered at the Coventry Senior Center for twenty five years. She loved going on educational travel trips, participating in the Senior Games, taking classes at the YMCA and kicking up her heels ballroom or line dancing. Having had a long life, well lived and well loved, we will always think of her out on the dance floor with Herb or Tony.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Laurie Tyce and her husband Robert; daughter-in-law, Ellen Stirzaker Cohen; grandson Oliver Tyce, grandson Charles Tyce and wife Ashlee; two great grandchildren, James and Carina Tyce. She was a very special aunt to her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son, Douglas Cohen and her siblings, Rae Brumberg, Anna, Marvin, Harry, Joseph, Harold, and Bernard Robbins.
A private graveside burial will be held in New Montefiore Cemetery, West Babylon, New York.
Arrangements are in the care of Sugarman-Sinai Memorial Chapel, Providence, Rhode Island.
