Sheila A. (Toomey) Carnevale, 80, of North Providence, passed away peacefully on November 5, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Sheila was the beloved wife for 57 years of the late Henry E. Carnevale.
Born in Providence, on January 1, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Helen (Sullivan) Toomey. Sister of Eileen Scorobogaty and her late husband Nicholas, Maureen McGovern, the late Patrick Joseph Toomey and her sister-in-law MaryAnn Toomey, Sister of the late Catherine Lang and her husband, the late William Lang. Sister-in-law to the late Angelo (Bob) and Anna Carnevale.
Sheila was a devoted mother to her son John M. Carnevale and his wife Gayle of Johnston, her daughter, Karen C. Lorme and her husband Peter of West Greenwich. She was the cherished grandmother to two grandchildren, Peter and Christopher Lorme.
Sheila was an Administrative Assistant for the Town of North Providence School Department for many years. Prior to that, she was an administrative assistant for the Council on Economic Education at Rhode Island College.
Sheila was a devout Catholic and active in her Church. She was involved in St. Anne’s Sodality at St. Lawrence Church in North Providence. She was involved in numerous volunteer positions including the PTA at Lymansville School having served in several positions including President.
Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family. She enjoyed sitting and having a cup of tea with all those who came to visit. She had the ability to make every gathering special. She loved watching her children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family enjoy numerous gatherings at their home, especially Christmas Day. Her home was open from morning till night where she and her husband Henry hosted. These Christmases made lifelong memories for all those who attended these magical celebrations.
Visitation Friday, 4–8 pm, in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence. Funeral Saturday at 8:45 am, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave., Providence. Burial to follow at St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Hope Health Hulitar Hospice Center, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, R.I. 02904 in her memory would be greatly appreciated.
