Robert D’Ambra, 85, passed away peacefully on November 20th surrounded by his loved ones. Bob is survived by his wife Susan and his children Debra D’Ambra, Kathy D’Ambra, Susan Andrade and Robyn Giachelli, and son-in-law David Andrade. He is also survived by his grandchildren Marissa, Christopher and Gabriella Cimarelli and great-grandson Chace Washburn-Cimarelli. He also leaves behind his beloved dog, Buddy.
Bob devoted 50 years of his life running D’Ambra’s Service Station on Hope Street in Providence. He worked along side his father and brother Frank until their retirement, when he took over the business carrying on his father’s legacy.
Bob was the youngest of 4 sons born to the late Thomas and Freida (Kritzmacher) D’Ambra. His mother passed away when he was very young and he was mostly raised by his Aunts until his father married the late Mary (Hershey) D’Ambra. Bob was the brother of the late Frank, James and Thomas D’Ambra Jr.
Bob was a proud, caring man who enjoyed vacations at his condo in Naples, cruises with his family and crazy trips to Atlantic City with his good pal Dave. He and his wife Suzzi liked going to the casino and were proud season ticket holders and great supporters of the Providence Bruins. On Sundays he could be found working in his yard or having a conversation on the deck with a neighbor or his kids. He will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of having him in their life. Due to his love of animals, a donation to the RI ASPCA or The Community Cat Center in Bob’s memory would be greatly appreciated.
