Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late William and Muriel (Dailey) Carroll.
She was the rock for her immediate family and loved, and was much loved by, her large extended family across several states. She held many friendships of more than 50 years and never lost touch across time or distance.
At heart she was always a girl from Providence, extremely proud of her heritage as a Rhode Island resident and New Englander.
After graduating from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1967, she was employed as an executive assistant at Hospital Trust Bank in Providence, and through friendships there met her loving husband, who she married in 1973. Two adoring sons followed over the next several years and she became a caring, stay-at-home mom until returning to the workforce when her sons were older. For the next 30 years she worked in various roles for large pharmacy chains across Rhode Island, happily retiring in 2011.
She was an active member of her sons’ tight-knit community at St. Augustine’s School, helping with annual fundraising events, the Cub Scouts, and countless other activities that added heart to the lives of countless students and their families. She was also known for her tremendous Christmas Eve’s parties that she hosted for over 30 years, which grew to include many generations of family and friends. Her other interests included camping when she was younger, the arts, history, cooking amazing meals, and traveling to visit family and friends across the United States and Europe. She was also an avid gardener who lovingly tended to her beautiful and colorful garden for many years. Ultimately, her legacy of warm love, rich friendships, great generosity, and a lifetime of memories will ensure that she lives on and continues to inspire the lives of all who she knew and loved.
She was the loving mother of Commander Jason Connors, JAGC, USN and Sean Connors; adored sister of Timothy Carroll (Jean), Cynthia Lillimpakis (Emmanuel), Richard Carroll (Stephanie), and the late Peter Carroll (Debbie); cherished aunt of 15 nieces and nephews and great-aunt of numerous great-nieces and great nephews, who she was very close to. She was also the grandmother of her much loved English bulldog, Seamus.
Her visitation will be held Monday September 30, 2024, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. in Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith Street, Providence. In honor of her passion for flowers and gardening, flowers arrangements for her wake may be accepted in her memory by the funeral home.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial Tuesday October 1, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in St. Augustine Church, 639 Mt. Pleasant Ave, Providence. Burial will follow in Mt. Saint Mary Cemetery, Pawtucket.
