Rachel Calcagni

Rachel Calcagni, age 90, of Satellite Beach, FL passed away peacefully on November 3, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. Rachel was born in Providence, RI on January 7, 1931 to the late William and Maria Rossi and the oldest of their five daughters. On January 19, 1952, Rachel married the love of her life, the late John L. Calcagni in Providence RI where they resided and raised their family. After retiring from the Rhode Island Secretary of State and then the Narragansett Bay Commission, Rachel relocated to spend her golden years in Florida.

Rachel spent the happiest of days in the sunshine state enjoying the company of her close friends, attending theatre, dining out, and more. Always living a flourished life with a positive attitude. Rachel was an avid reader. It was common for her to read multiple books in a week’s time. She loved reading and learning new things. To know Rachel was to know her beautiful smile and gentle soul.

Rachel leaves behind her two sons, John L. Calcagni Jr. (and wife, PatsyJo) and Eleuterio “Larry” Calcagni both of Florida and her beloved grandchildren John L. Calcagni III (and wife, Leticia Menezes Teixeira) of Rhode Island, Kristen E. Calcagni (and fiancé, Mark Harris) of Connecticut, and Michael R. Calcagni of Virginia. She also leaves behind two sisters, Vencina Parenteau and Nina Pagano. Rachel was predeceased by Frances Grasso and Anna Iacono.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday January 5, 2022 at 12:15 pm in St. Edwards Catholic Church, 997 Branch Ave, Providence, RI followed by graveside burial at St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
