Margaret Helena Martinelli, beloved wife of the Hon. John E. Martinelli, passed away peacefully at the HopeHealth Hulitar Hospice Center on November 18 surrounded by her family. She was the cherished mother of four daughters: Michele A. Nachamie (Howard), Beth M. Martinelli (Charles), Lisa M. Martinelli (Robert), and Megan J. Martinelli (Jonathan).
Margaret was born in Providence, to the late Margaret L. (O'Malley) Balentine and Leo R. Balentine. She matriculated at the University of Rhode Island, where she pursued her passion for sociology and psychology. Margaret devoted her life to her family and her community and was a longtime member of Moms in Touch prayer group at St. Augustine’s Church. She also served as a president of the parish’s Rosary and Altar Society. Her unwavering love for her husband, John, to whom she was married for almost 60 years, was evident to all who knew them. She worked alongside her husband in his law business for many years. Together, they built a life filled with love and laughter, while enjoying countless adventures and creating lasting memories.
Margaret had a deep love for music and theater, and a charming sense of humor. She was a talented baker, known for her chocolate chip cookies, zucchini quiche and banana bread.
Margaret held a deep and unwavering pride in her grandchildren and celebrated every achievement and milestone with immense joy. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Henry L. Nachamie, Edward E. Nachamie, Leo S. Nachamie, Omar N. Hallab, Adon S. Hallab, Adelina M. Martinelli Rocchio, and Colin M. Melmed.
Margaret is survived by her loving sister, Jane M. Balentine, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her sister, Patrica A. Baribault.
Margaret will be remembered for her kindness, her generous spirit, and her dedication to those she held dear. Her daughters will forever carry her lessons of compassion, strength, and perseverance.
Calling hours will be held from 2-4pm on Sunday, November 24, 2024, at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home, 331 Smith St, Providence. Her Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, November 25, 2024, at 10:30am at St. Augustine’s Church in Providence. Procession will assemble prior at Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home.
