In loving memory of Marcia June (Burrell) Harrell, who touched the lives of many through her selfless dedication and kindness. She passed away peacefully at home in Williamsburg, VA on May 29, 2024, at the age of 76. She was the beloved wife of Eric Harrell for 53 years to the day.
Born in Providence, RI, she was a daughter of the late Albert and Antonia (Soares) Burrell.
Along with her husband, she is survived by her loving children, Victoria Lynn. Harrell and Eric Lonnie Harrell and his wife Kristen; cherished grandchildren, Alexis Grace Harrell and Lauren Avery Harrell. She was the loving sister of Albert, Robert, Mario, Michael, Joseph, Leonard and Patricia (deceased) Burrell, Albertina West, Joanna Spearman, and Brenda Richardson.
For nearly 35 years, Marcia served as a dedicated nurse, tirelessly caring for patients with compassion and empathy. Her commitment to healing also extended beyond her retirement. As a hospital volunteer, she supported hospital patients in their most vulnerable moments. She also volunteered her services to deliver flowers to various nursing and rehabilitation centers in the Williamsburg area. Her efforts didn’t stop there—she actively participated in food drives, distributing nourishment and clothing to those in need at local food banks.
Her faith was an integral part of her life. Marcia served her church community with dedication, contributing to hospitality services and leading Bible studies. Her warm smile and welcoming spirit made everyone feel at home.
Marcia was an avid reader and was an active supporter of the Williamsburg Regional Library.
Marcia leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and service. Her impact on the lives she touched will forever be remembered.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 20, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by her funeral service at 12:00 p.m. in Swan Point Cemetery Historic Chapel, 585 Blackstone Blvd., Providence. The family invites everyone to join them at the repass from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Gray Coale Reception Room at Swan Point Cemetery. Graveside burial will be held Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Swan Point Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, the Salvation Army, or the FISH, Inc. Food Pantry & Clothing, 312 2nd St. Williamsburg, VA.
