Joseph J. D’Onofrio, 56, passed away December 25, 2021. He was the beloved husband of Maureen J. (Cook) D’Onofrio for 31 years. Born in Las Vegas, Nevada, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Maria D. (Doti) D’Onofrio.
Joseph, a true Rhode Islander, was raised in West Warwick, resided in Coventry, and attended the University of Rhode Island. Apart from his Rhode Island upbringing, he served in the US Navy Reserves from 1984 – 1995. Joseph, who was not a stranger to hard work, will be missed by his co-workers of Stop & Shop after 40 years of service. Outside of work, Joseph was a family man, who was happiest when he was traveling or dining with his wife, vacationing with his family, celebrating life with his friends and family, and enjoying sports with his children. Joseph will be remembered as a selfless, loving, easy-going, and devoted son, husband, and father, to friends and family.
Along with his wife, he is survived by his children, Stephanie M. DaSilva and her husband Nicholas, and Brian J. D’Onofrio. Joseph is also survived by his mother-in-law Joan Cook and brothers-in-law John and Timothy Cook of Coventry, RI. In addition to his immediate family, Joseph leaves: E. David D’Onofrio, his wife Maria Serio of Boylston, MA his son Michael D’Onofrio and family of Shrewsbury, MA, and his daughter Marissa Cartwright and family of Hampstead, NC; Rose Silva McClarnon, Diane Silva Cazzarro and William Silva and their children of Cranston, RI; and numerous extended family members.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Russell J. Boyle and Son Funeral Home, 142 Centerville Road, Warwick, RI. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph Church, 854 Providence Street, West Warwick. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Kent Hospital Foundation, 300 Richmond Street, Providence, RI 02903.
