He was born in Providence, RI to Timothy P. Griffin and Margaret M. (McCarthy) Griffin. He was the beloved husband of M. Suzanne (Marcotte) for 40 years until her death in 2011. He was preceded in death by his sisters Margaret Griffin, Joan Simpson and Jean Goclowski.
Jack was a graduate of LaSalle Academy before honorably serving his country with the US Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to retirement, Jack was a proud member of the Providence Police Department for 37 years as a Police Officer, receiving many commendations for his outstanding work with the public.
Dividing his time between Lincoln, RI and Melbourne, FL, he remained a true Rhode Islander at heart. Jack had a larger-than-life presence and was extremely kind and generous. He will be fondly remembered for his love of family and friends, a good story, old cowboy movies, his luck at Keno and all things Irish.
Jack is survived by his sister-in-law Jeanne Favreau and husband Jay of Satellite Beach, FL and sister-in-law Jeannine Ball of Bristol, CT. Loved by his nieces Susan Colwell, Katherine Pike, Patricia Fedo, Sharon Simpson, the late Jane Goclowski, his companion Patricia Monahan along with his many cousins and great nieces and nephew.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 27, 2022 at 10:00 am in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, One Cathedral Square, Providence. Burial will follow at Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours will be respectfully omitted. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Russell J. Boyle & Son Funeral Home.
