John Franco

John Franco, 84, just one week shy of his 85th birthday, passed away peacefully at home surround by his loving family on September 10, 2023. He was the devoted and beloved husband for 60 wonderful years to Lucy (Sousa) Franco.

He was the cherished father of Joyce Conti and husband Richard, who was his loving son in law; precious grandfather of Erica Conti and Jillian Geraghty and her husband Joshua and adored great grandfather of Valentina, Gabriel and Milena.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Luigi and Maria (Gerardi) Franco. He was also the brother of Richard, Donald, Francis, Anna, Marie, Rosa and the late Edward, Harry, Thomas, Louis, Connie, Eleanor, Virginia, Margaret and Katie.

John was a Foreman for the City of Providence; Department of Parks and Recreation for 25 years before retiring. He was also a member of Local 1033 and was a U.S. Army Veteran.

His funeral will be held Friday at 8:45 AM from the ROMANO FUNERAL HOME, 627 Union Avenue, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 1804 Atwood Avenue, Johnston.
