Frank served in the U.S. Army in WWII and the U.S. Navy in the Korean War. He received his bachelor’s degree from Providence College and worked for over 35 years at the Providence Gas Co., now known as National Grid.
He enjoyed traveling and did so extensively throughout Europe, the Mediterranean and the Far East. He was a private person, an avid reader and collected many books as well as art. He also enjoyed classical music and opera, although his pride and joy was his family.
He leaves his wife, Claudette (Dufresne) Campanella; his sons, Christopher D. Campanella of Midlothian, VA, Robert D. and Bethany L. Campanella of Chepatchet, RI, and David A. Campanella of Johnston, RI; his daughter Claudia E. Campanella and her fiance Frank A. Ribezzo Jr. of North Smithfield, RI; his 7 grandchildren, Benjamin and Andrew Campanella of Johnston, RI, Sadie, Olivia and Amelia Campanella of Chepatchet, RI, Sebastian and Christian Campanella of Chepatchet, RI. He also leaves many nieces and nephews, some of which fondly referred to him as Uncle F.
Visitation and funeral services will be held Saturday, 10:30-12 noon with a service at 12 noon in the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hope Hospice & Palliative Care, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
