Born in North Providence, he was the son of the late Ernest X. and Roseanne (Trudeau) Brousseau.
Mr. Brousseau graduated from LaSalle Academy and Providence College where he was an outstanding baseball player, a sport he loved. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII and spent 3 years as an agent for the Criminal Investigation Division of the War Department in Austria, where he met his wife Ida. He received his master’s degree from Rhode Island College and taught school for 39 years at Vocational, Tolman and Shea high schools. He was a critic teacher as well as a baseball coach for many years, and was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in North Providence. He loved baseball, golf and ballroom dancing.
He is survived by his wife Ida (Felsner) of 64 years; 2 sons, Ernest P. of Lincoln and Robert Koeller of Gloucester, MA, and their wives Karen and Maryanne; a brother, Wilfred Brousseau; 2 grandsons; a great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, 5-8 p.m. with funeral services on Thursday at 9 a.m. from the PONTARELLI-MARINO Home, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Jude Church, 301 Front Street, Lincoln, followed by burial with Military Honors in the RI Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Exeter.
