Donald, affectionately known as Ducky, will be remembered by his loved ones, as a funny, and opinionated soul, who carried stubbornness in equal measure to charm. He exhibited an incredible work ethic in every endeavor he undertook. He spent long days working outside in all weather, 6 days a week at his newsstand. He was a local fixture. He had an incredible mind for numbers and did all his computations in his head. He baked the best wine and pepper biscuits.
Donald was born and raised a true New Englander, but he certainly loved New York. His favorite sports teams hailed from the Big apple. He frequently visited and attended New York Yankees and the New York Giants games. He spent many New Year’s Eve’s, celebrating in Time Square.
Donald was a proud full-blooded Italian American, so tradition and food were very important to him. He enjoyed all types of cuisine from Veal and Peas to Hot Wieners, but had a voracious sweet tooth, especially hard candy, and chocolate. He relaxed over a good meal with his wife, or lifelong friend Timmy drinking either Dewar's on the Rocks or Vodka Tonic with a splash of Cranberry and a Twist of Lemon.
His musical tastes ranged from Tony Bennett to Shakira and everything in between. He was a fan of musicals of all kinds, often frequenting PPAC for theater performances. His favorite pastime was spending quality time with his wife, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Keeping his vitality alive, he enjoyed walking, his preferred form of exercise. Taking a long drive was a pastime from his childhood that he continued with his children, and his children passed on to their children as well.
While we mourn the loss of Donald, we remember the immense Joy he felt with his grandchildren and great grandchildren and peace knowing that we will see him again in the next life.
